So here’s another beer from the Wadworth “Beer Kitchen” range. Just the mention of IPA gets me all turgid with excitement, so I always have high expectations…
BKIPA sits in a glass about the right sort of colour – a rusty orange or thereabouts. The head froths up and then spreads out to a reasonable covering.
The aroma is more about the juicy malt than the hops, but there’s an enticing fruitiness about it which is nice – plus a little toasty, biscuity note, too.
The carbonation is good and the mouth-feel is solid enough, with an excellent bitterness. While not being uber-hoppy the taste goes on and on, and is one of the best after tastes I’ve had in a beer for a long time. A good slug of alcohol rounds out the taste nicely.
Everything’s good and it’s a nice beer – but I think it would be even better with a more pronounced hop aroma.
Well worth trying should you see it…
