Magic Hat: Number 9

What a contrast…after a few days of massive IPAs it’s weird to come across this lamb of a beer.  That’s not to say it’s bad at all, it’s more like a refuge from the bucket-loads of hops I seem to have been getting through.

When poured it lands in the glass a hazy orange colour with a thinnish, viscous and collapsible head.  The aroma is full of yeast character, non-assertive hops and sweet malt.

For the taste it’s that same sweet, light malt and very little in the way of bitterness; there are some hops in there, but they’re just smoothing the way and making everything taste good together.

All in all number 9 is well-made, tastes OK, but really doesn’t set my world aflame.
